Additional Prayers

Praying the Daily Hours
Almighty and most merciful Father, who through the blood of thy Son, hath
reconciled all things to yourself, both in heaven and on earth; hear our prayers
throughout these hours and so sanctify this day; that in all our doings, we may
proclaim thee as Lord and show forth thy coming Kingdom; and grant, that doing
all our tasks in thy name, we may do them with righteousness, love, and
excellence. This we ask for our help and thy Glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Intersession for others.
O God, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we commend to thy fatherly
goodness all those who are any ways afflicted, or distressed, in mind, body, or
estate [especially__________]; that it may please thee to comfort and relieve them,
according to their several necessities; giving them patience under their sufferings,
and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ’s
sake. Amen.

General Concern
Almighty God, hear our prayers and let our cry come before Thee [especially
concerning_________]; draw near to us in this matter, O Lord, and in thy mercy
direct us; pour out thy Holy Spirit upon us and strengthen us; grant us comfort
where there is sorrow, peace where there is worry, courage where there is fear,
wisdom where there is uncertainty, protection where there is danger, provision
where there is want, and faithfulness where there is trial; that Thy will may be
done, Thy people made glad in Thee, and Thy Name glorified above all forever.
Amen.

For Witness.
Almighty God, whose compassions fail not, and whose loving-kindness reacheth
unto the world’s end; We give thee humble thanks for planting thy Church in all the
earth. Grant, we beseech thee, unto us thy servants, that with lively faith we may
labor abundantly to make known to all men thy blessed gift of eternal life; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For the Church
O gracious Father, we humbly beseech thee for thy holy Catholic Church; that thou
wouldest be pleased to fill it with all truth, in all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify
it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it. Where it is
right, establish it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it;
for the sake of him who died and rose again, and ever liveth to make intercession
for us, Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

For your local Parish
Almighty and Everlasting God, mercifully grant to our parish all things needful for

all that would divide or distract us, relieve those of us who are sick or in trouble,
provide for those of us who are in want, redeem and protect our covenant children,
and in all our doings grant that we may be pleasing in thy sight; through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen

A Prayer for the Clergy and People.
Almighty and everlasting God, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift;
Send down upon our Bishops, and other Clergy, and upon the Congregations

please thee, pour upon them the continual dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord,
for the honor of our Advocate and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.

without end. Amen.

Almighty God, who has called thy people to holy work and has set before us daily
tasks in thy vineyard; grant that in all our doings this day we may trust thee and thy
provisions, lest filled with anxiety and haste, we forget thy presence and purpose;
or filled with dread, we lose sight of the confidence thou does promise to all who
serve thee; and so Lord, we offer to you this day and all that thou hast given us to
do herein; grant us diligence in our work and sanctify our every endeavor to thy
holy purpose; who art alone our strength and our redeemer. Amen

Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we, thine unworthy servants, do give Thee
most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and lovingkindness to us this

hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we show forth thy praise, not only
with our lips, but in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with thee
and the Holy Ghost, be all honor and glory, world without end. Amen.

A General Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we, thine unworthy servants, do give Thee
most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and lovingkindness to us, and
to all men; We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this
life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our
Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we
beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be
unfeignedly thankful; and that we show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but
in our lives, by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in
holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom,
with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honor and glory, world without end. Amen.

Thanksgiving for Sunday Worship
Most Gracious and Loving God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, we praise thee for
the gift of worshiping thee in thy house; we especially glorify thee for thy Word;
may thy Spirit conform us to it; we bless thee for thy Table; may we be strengthen
by your ongoing presence and grace at work in our lives; we thank thee for our
fellowship; may we grow together in unity; and we beseech thee, O Lord, fan to
flame that holy desire in us; that we may love thee and thy ways and serve thee and
thy will, joyfully throughout this week; in the name of Jesus Christ our mediator
and redeemer. Amen

For the Holy Spirit’s Help
Grant, we beseech Thee, Almighty and Merciful God, that Thy Holy Spirit may
come unto us, and dwell in us, and wash, renew, strengthen, and lead us, that in all
things, we may be pleasing in thy sight; who art our Lord and redeemer. Amen

For deliverance from sorrow, worry, and spiritual attack
Almighty and most merciful Father, who art our Shepherd and defender, hear our
cry and make haste to help us; strengthen us against all sorrow, anxiety, and the
weight of discouragement; free us from spiritual oppression and demonic attacks;
keep us from all ill thoughts and desires; and finally deliver us from those sins
which even now seek to bind and enslave us; that we, having our hearts lifted to
the brightness of your countenance, may serve thee joyfully and with peace of
mind; this we ask in the Name of thy Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer During a Persistent Trail
O Lord, who on the cross didst take upon thyself all suffering and through thy
resurrection didst endow it with purpose and victory; we offer to you our trials this
day as a spiritual service of worship, beseeching thee to sanctify them to thy
purpose, redeem them from all fault and impurity, and fortify us in the midst of
them; and grant, O Lord, that in place of fear, anger, and rebellion, we may have
the quiet confidence to follow wherever thou doest lead and patiently wait for thy
certain mercy, knowing that our faithfulness is never pointless but shall show forth
the splendor of thy majesty in the age to come; and this we ask who art our
Resurrection and Life. Amen.

Prayer for Grace to reform and grow better.
MOST merciful God, lest, through our own frailty, or the temptations which
encompass us, we be drawn into sin, vouchsafe us, we beseech thee, the direction
and assistance of thy Holy Spirit. Reform whatever is amiss in the temper and
disposition of our souls; that no unclean thoughts, unlawful designs, or inordinate
desires, may rest there. Purge our hearts from envy, hatred, and malice; that we
may never suffer the sun to go down upon our wrath; but may always go to our rest
in peace, charity, and good-will, with a conscience void of offence towards thee,
and towards men; that so we may be preserved pure and blameless, unto the
coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

For the Recovery of a Sick Person.
O MERCIFUL God, giver of life and health; Bless, we pray thee, thy servant, [N.],
and those who administer to him of thy healing gifts; that he may be restored to
health of body and of mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for The President of the United States, and all in Civil Authority.
O Lord our Governor, whose glory is in all the world; We commend this nation to
thy merciful care, that being guided by thy Providence, we may dwell secure in thy
peace. Grant to THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and to all in
authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do thy will. Fill them with the love
of truth and righteousness; and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve
this people in thy fear; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with
thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
