Easter-Pentecost Prime

V. In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

 R. Amen.

V. O Lord, open thou our lips.

 R. And our mouth shall show forth thy praise.

V. Receive, O Lord, our prayers this hour

R. The offering to you of this day. Amen

Let us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father;

We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep.

We have offended against thy holy laws;

And there is no health in us.

A period of silence for reflection may follow.

But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us;

Forgive us all our sins,

And grant that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life;

To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

O Lord, we beseech thee, mercifully hear our prayers, and grant us Absolution and Remission of all our sins, true repentance; amendment of life, and the grace and consolation of Thy Holy Spirit. Amen.

 V. O God, make speed to save us.

 R. O Lord, make haste to help us.

V. GLORY be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

 R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalmody

A Selection from the Psalter or

One or more of the Psalms below is read

Psalm 16:8 I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely.

 10 For Thou wilt not abandon my soul to Sheol; Neither wilt Thou allow Thy Holy One to undergo decay.

 11 Thou wilt make known to me the path of life; In Thy presence is fullness of joy; In Thy right hand there are pleasures forever.

V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost,

 R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalm 111:1 Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart, in the company of the upright and in the assembly.

 2 Great are the works of the LORD; they are studied by all who delight in them.

 3 Splendid and majestic is His work; And His righteousness endures forever.

 4 He has made His wonders to be remembered; The LORD is gracious and compassionate.

 5 He has given food to those who fear Him; He will remember His covenant forever.

 6 He has made known to His people the power of His works, in giving them the heritage of the nations.

 7 The works of His hands are truth and justice; All His precepts are sure.

 8 They are upheld forever and ever; They are performed in truth and uprightness.

 9 He has sent redemption to His people; He has ordained His covenant forever; Holy and awesome is His name.

 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.

V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost,

R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalm 69:13 But as for me, my prayer is to Thee, O LORD. At an acceptable time, O God, in the greatness of Thy lovingkindness, answer me with Thy saving truth.

 14 Deliver me from the mire, and do not let me sink; May I be delivered from my foes, and from the deep waters.

 15 May the flood of water not overflow me, may the deep not swallow me up, and may the pit not shut its mouth on me.

 16 Answer me, O LORD, for Thy lovingkindness is good; According to the greatness of Thy compassion, turn to me,

 17 Do not hide Thy face from Thy servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly.

 18 Oh draw near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!

V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost,

 R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Scripture Reading

The following short lessons or another suitable passage is read

Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6 "He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said.

R. Thanks be to God.

Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be united with Him in the likeness of His resurrection,

R. Thanks be to God.

Luke 24:46 and He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day; 47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 "You are witnesses of these things.

R. Thanks be to God.

V. The Lord be with you

R. And with thy spirit

V. Let us pray.

OUR Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

V. Our help is in the Name of the Lord.

 R. Who hath made heaven and earth.

V. O Lord, hear our prayer.

 R. And let our cry come unto Thee.

 V. Let us pray.

Here at least two prayers are said: the Collect of the day (from the past Sunday or specific for the day) and the first prayer provided below.

If the Collect be already said, a prayer from the Additional Collects may be used or both prayers provided below may be used.

O Lord, who took upon thyself our human nature and by thy death on the cross didst redeem all time and creation; we lift to you our prayers throughout these hours, and so offer to you this day and all our doings herein; beseeching thee to grant, that we, who confess thy coming Kingdom, may be ever mindful, that we serve on holy ground, that we abide in holy time, and undertake a holy labor; and this we ask of thee, who art alone Creator, Redeemer, and Lord of all. Amen.

O LORD, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend us in the same with thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings, being ordered by thy governance, may be righteous in thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

V. Bless the Lord.

R. Thanks be to God.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.
