Compline- Before Worship

V. In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

 R. Amen.

V. The Lord Almighty grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.

 R. Amen.

Let us pray

O Merciful and Everlasting God

Turn our hearts we beseech thee, to thy house

And open thou our lips

that our mouths may show forth thy praise

V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost,

R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

And because by our own merits, we are unworthy to come before Him

Let us humbly confess our sins unto almighty God

We confess to God almighty,

the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost,

that we have sinned in thought, word and deed,

    through our own grievous fault.

Wherefore we pray God to have mercy upon us.

A period of silence for reflection may follow.

Almighty God, have mercy upon us,

forgive us all our sins and deliver us from all evil,

confirm and strengthen us in all goodness,

    and bring us to life everlasting;

    through Jesus Christ our Lord.

O Lord, we beseech thee, mercifully hear our prayers, and grant us Absolution and Remission of all our sins, true repentance; amendment of life, and the grace and consolation of Thy Holy Spirit. Amen.

V. If Thou, O LORD, should mark iniquities,

R. Who could stand?

V. But there is forgiveness with Thee,

R. That Thou mayest be feared

V. O God, make speed to save us.

 R. O Lord, make haste to help us.

V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost,

R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

From the Psalter (read all)

Psalm 122:1 I Was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD."

Psalm 84:1 How lovely are Thy dwelling places, O LORD of hosts!

2 My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

4 How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house! They are ever praising Thee.

5 How blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee; in whose heart are the highways to Zion!

10 For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God, than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

12 O LORD of hosts, How blessed is the man who trusts in Thee!

Psalm 5:7 As for me, by Thine abundant lovingkindness I will enter Thy house, at Thy holy temple I will bow in reverence for Thee.

V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost,

R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

O gracious Lord, who in thy holy Sacrament hath left us a memorial of thy passion; grant us, so to partake of the Sacred Mysteries of thy Body and Blood, that we, receiving them by faith, may enjoy the fellowship of thy spiritual presence with us at the Table; and may be nourished by the grace of thy onetime sacrifice; and this we ask in thy name who art our Lord and Redeemer. At some point after corporate Worship this prayer may be said

Thanksgiving for Sunday Worship

Most Gracious and Loving God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, we praise thee for the gift of worshiping thee in thy house; we especially glorify thee for thy Word; may thy Spirit conform us to it; we bless thee for thy Table; may we be strengthened by your ongoing presence and grace at work in our lives; we thank thee for our fellowship; may we grow together in unity; and we beseech thee, O Lord, stir up that holy desire in us; that we may love thee and thy ways and serve thee and thy will, joyfully throughout this week; in the name of Jesus Christ our mediator and redeemer. Amen
